Baltimore Orioles has a long history in Baseball. It is a member of the Major League Baseball, Eastern Division. Before he joined the Orioles, he was a varsity player in high school, which won the Championship crown in Class-A league in 1977. He also won a batting title in Hanford County when he played in Mickey Mantle World Series in 1977.
His growth as a baseball player was gradual. He did not wow everyone when he first stepped in the stadium. It was not bad either although there were a lot of room for improvement. As he progressed to the different Oriole team, he also improved as an athlete. It did not take long before he made his first All Star appearance. Although he struggled at the bat, his improvement was in time for him to win the coveted Rookie of the year award.
There were bittersweet moments in the Baltimore Orioles history. The team beat the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series. Ripken also got the most valuable player for the series from the American league. However, this did not sustain. They had their worst standing ever and even finished last at some point. This happened amidst his reputable performance.
He continued to play his best but many fans were speculative of his low batting average. This did not stop him from winning his second most valuable player award from American League though. He even won a Golden Glove as the best defensive player. He also got the most valuable player for the All Star game.

From the looks of it, the "Prego Club" is recruiting, with a vengeance. While black may be back, and plum may rule the runway, this year nothing is quite as fashionable as having a baby.
As with all other trends, the celebrities are leading the pack, with an unprecedented number of superstars sporting a bump, newborn babes or tiny-tots, including Katie Holmes, Britney Spears, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Garner, Heidi Klum, Holly Hunter, Talisa Soto, Melissa Joan Hart, Gwyneth Paltrow and of course we're all waiting with bated breath for Demi and Asthon and Brad and Angelina to drop the baby bomb. Julia Roberts, Brooke Shields, Courtney Cox, even Melania Trump's doing it. It would seem that being a mommy is trés hip, or as Paris Hilton would say: It's hot. Not that she's saying it... just yet, anyway.

More and more women are hearing (and listening to) their biological clocks, and deciding that there is no time like the present to embrace motherhood, regardless of their marital status. According to ChildTrends Databank, in 2003 a little over one third all births in the US were to unmarried women, many of whom are professional women actively choosing to have children with their boyfriends (out of wedlock) or even on their own.
The reality is that single mothers today look more like Sex and the City's Miranda (a professional mature woman) than DeGrassi's Spike (a pregnant teen). Unmarried motherhood is no longer just a teen phenomenon; in fact, teen pregnancies are on the decline. The 2000 U.S. census reports that roughly 40 percent of never-married women in their 30s have a kid.
As the teen pregnancy rate continues to drop, pregnancy among women in their mid-to late 20s and 30s is skyrocketing; the rush to beat the biological clock and have children before fertility complications become an issue is intensifying. What's behind this trend?
A Contract Doesn't Make a Family
Prego membership is on the rise -- compare this to our mothers' generation where only 5.3 percent of births were to single mothers in the 1960s. Experts attribute this at least in part to the rise of cohabiting unions--by the mid 1990s 40 percent of nonmarital births occurred to women in cohabiting unions. Increasing numbers of couples are choosing the "Unmarried with Children" lifestyle, following in the footsteps of celebrity trailblazers such as Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell (who have been an unmarried item for 23 years and are parents together of son, Wyatt) and Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins (a happily unmarried item since 1988 and parents together of boys Jack and Miles).
Some cohabiting duos often do take that march down the aisle when they find that a third family member is on the way, but with the dismal track record of marriage (one in two ending in divorce) many people have a difficult time buying into all that 'till death do us part' stuff.
Ironically, at a time when the face of marriage is changing radically - lurching further and further from its traditional roots and expanding to embrace same-sex unions - many couples are coming to the conclusion that you don't need a legally binding contract to create a happy, healthy family.
Over the last 15 years, there has been a 70 percent surge in cohabiting, unmarried couples, many of whom are making the decision to take the untraditional route of creating loving families where Mommy isn't married to Daddy.
Marriage Isn't An Option
It's getting harder to find a non-severely-dysfunctional man, and the older you get, the harder it becomes. Perhaps this is because so many of us focus on career development, getting BEDs, LLBs, MBAs, PHDs, and an assortment of other hard-earned letters during our 20s (the years our mothers were popping out babies). Whatever the reason, it's not uncommon for a woman to reach 30 without a M-A-N. But that doesn't mean we don't still hear the incessant pounding of our biological clocks. When the alarm goes off and Mr. Right is M.I.A., many women are taking parenting into their own hands.
Some turn to sperm banks or talk to male friends about coparenting, and others will try to get pregnant the old fashioned way--with or without sharing their intentions with the guy of choice (not recommended, ladies).
Other women, such as Angelina Jolie, Calista Flockhart, Sharon Stone, and (possibly soon) Kristin Davis are looking to adoption to create a beautiful family regardless of whether or not a man is in the picture.
While single parenting is a challenge - whether you planned it that way or that's just how it ended up - the upside is that women today don't always need men for economic stability as was the case for generations past.
The downside of being a single mother goes beyond the lack physical and emotional support a partner imparts; men play a critical role in the emotional development of children, both girls and boys. Fathers provide children with a male role model, helping sons with the development of their male identities and helping daughters create healthy male/female relationships.
Whether in or out of wedlock, with a partner or solo, bringing a child into the world is the most life-changing decision step you can take. Once the in vogue bump has disappeared and baby has arrived, there's no going back. Raising children requires tremendous commitment, emotional energy, physical stability, and most importantly, love.

With the knowledge of Computer basics, Applications, networking and the internet, many people's bank accounts are growing and their joy uncomprehendingly increasing while at the same time affecting positively the lives of many others. Most of them start out their business centers immediately after graduation and frankly come back to share with me how well they are doing.

Engine cooling is a simple process of heat transfer. The metal of the engine cylinder and cylinder head absorbs heat from the combustion chamber. Water circulating around the cylinder walls and through the head absorbs the heat. The hot water is transferred to the top of the radiator. As the water passes through the radiator, top to bottom, the heat is transferred to the radiator tubes and fins. Air passing over the fins and tubes carries the heat away.

Opening louvers on hoods, and having the correct splash pans and shrouds in place for your vehicle can make a substantial difference to engine cooling. While you may think the little doors on the sides of your antique's hood are decorative, they can play an important part in removing heat from the engine. This is especially true in low speed operating situations. The splash pans beneath the engine may keep roadside mud from splashing up on the electrical. They also assist in directing the hot air away from the engine.
Interfere with any part of the heat transfer process and the engine can overheat. Checking for problems in heat transfer is a matter of starting with the simplest problem and working your way down the list.
For the antique or early post war classic, the basic circulating engine coolant is water. Over the years however, a variety of solutions have been developed to reduce corrosion, increase heat transfer, increase cooling capacity, and inhibit loss from evaporation. Drivers in colder climates were also treated to the development of non-freezing coolant solutions. No matter what coolant you use, correct levels are essential to proper cooling. If unsure about the correct levels, check your owner or shop manual. If you don't have a manual or another source of information, then fill it up. Assuming the system is in good working order it will purge any coolant finds unnecessary in short order.
Not all modern coolants are created equal. They can have an assortment of corrosion inhibitors. While they may not affect most cast iron engines, care should be used when using modern coolant mixtures in old engines with aluminum components such as cylinder heads. Some coolants are designed for use with aluminum components, some are not. So, always read the product labels. Failing to use the proper coolant with aluminum components can result in clogged water passages and failed components.
This done, check the cooling fan. Most automobiles have a fan unit to help drive air over the engine. Heat has been transmitted to it from the water system and it must be removed from the radiator and engine compartment. Correct operation of the fan is essential during idling, gear shifting and in the lower speed range when there is not much air in circulation. See that the belt doesn't slip, but don't make the common mistake of tightening it to a point where the fan bearings are cramped. You should just be able to turn the fan by pressing lightly with your fingers. The fan's bearings should be lubricated as specified in the instruction book. Some bearings should be greased; others oiled. Read your owners or shop manual.
Assisting the fan in dissipating the air after it has wiped off the engine's excess heat are the fan shrouds, engine splash pans and hood louvers. Many motorists make the mistake of not opening hood louvers in hot weather, just as they overlook the advantages in keeping the engine cool through maintaining a flow of air under the hood. Missing fan shrouds or engine splash pans can greatly affect the air flow under the engine compartment and the cooling capacity of the system.
The next step concerns the circulation of water or coolant. This is where most of the trouble resides. Water circulation tends to drop in efficiency because of the action of air and water on metal, Rust and corrosion can rapidly turn a free flowing system into a scale clogged mess. If we could have a closed cooling system with no oxygen circulating through the radiator and water jackets there would be no oxidation, and thus no rusting. While many modern motors use anti-freeze all year round and is never given another thought, many antique's open systems will quickly show the results of corrosion if left un-maintained.
Expect rust, scale and sediment and maintain your system accordingly. There is no need to force this to collect of water borne crud through the radiator when flushing the circulation system. Do not stir up the sediment in the block and then allow it to flow through to the fine passages of the radiator core. Make two jobs of flushing and separate the engine water jackets and the radiator.
Separating the engine and radiator for flushing is a matter of disconnecting the hose between radiator and engine. This presents an excellent opportunity to check the condition of your radiator hoses. If cracked or collapsing, replace them. Reverse flush the radiator with any of the prepared compounds now on the market. If you prefer to make up your own solution use ordinary washing or baking soda dissolved in hot water in the proportion of one teacupful of soda to each two gallons of water. Bear in mind that when reverse flushing the engine jackets where an aluminum head is used, a special flushing compound designed for aluminum components is required. All this should be done with a water stream under pressure.
Flushing the radiator should be done by pumping in water from bottom to top, or in the reverse direction of normal flow. Similarly with the engine water jackets. If a significant amount of sediment is flushed from the engine block system it may be advisable to go to a good radiator man and have the whole works cleaned professionally.
A clogged radiator will be upset in all hot weather conditions. No matter how efficient the rest of the system may be, if the engine coolant cannot pass through the radiator it cannot cool the engine. Before a clogged radiator is replaced however, it should be taken to a radiator shop and professionally assessed. A professional shop may be able to clean a radiator when the home mechanic cannot. If the radiator is too hopeless clogged, it will have to be re-cored.
Most drivers know the value keeping a radiator's innards clean. The radiator however can also be rendered ineffective by external restrictions, too. If the radiator core is heavily painted, plugged with accumulations of dead insects between the fins, or the front is covered with too many emblems, licenses and adornments, the air cannot pass through to do the cooling job. In one notable case, a vehicle that had spent a dusty life on the Canadian prairies had fins plugged with wind borne soil and dust. A costly re-core job was averted by carefully washing the fins of a radiator with a pressure washer from the engine side. Usually removal of the accumulations between the fins can be accomplished by carefully blowing air under pressure from the engine side.
Many a radiator reaches the end of its usefulness before its time. When it dies a premature death, It is usually because the owner has not taken steps to inhibit rust, forgotten to flushing the system, or otherwise poorly maintained the cooling system. Re-coring can be an expensive process and best avoided by some preventative measures.
If the motor thermostat and radiator hoses have been in service for some time, chances are that they should be inspected closely. The thermostat may not work as freely as it should. It can be tested by plopping in a pot of boiling water to ensure that it is opening. If in doubt, replace it. Hoses and connections should also be checked, tightened and replaced as necessary. A lower hose in poor condition can collapse and shut off circulation of water as effectively as a thermostat that fails to open. A makeshift remedy is to insert a coil spring in the hose so that it won't suck inward, but the more permanent solution is to go back to the radiator and try to find out why it doesn't allow water to circulate freely.
Water pumps seldom fail to pump water. Occasionally a water pump will fail when the impeller sheers off its shaft. In that case the engine fever is so acute that the driver has no choice but to pull over switch off and have the situation remedied immediately. Where the pump has gone bad, no water will be forced to the top of the radiator while the engine is running. Looking into the radiator top tank will also tell you when the radiator is blocked or the lower hose is collapsed. As you accelerate the engine the water level in the radiator should not rise. You can quickly decide whether the blockage is due to the radiator or the hose connection by glancing at the latter.
In some engines, such as found in Graham Paige and early Chrysler, the water will be circulated in the block with the aid of a distribution tube located in the block or distribution plate behind the water jacket cover. Lack of a tube or plate will result in poor circulation and overheating. The best way to find out if your engine has one, is to check with the owners manual, or with a specialist club.
With the heat dissipation system cleaned and filled, the astute driver will ensure the engine does not generate more heat than it normally would. Most important is keeping the timing and carburetor properly adjusted. An engine that overheats in summer would be equally troublesome in colder weather. Many owners are inclined to take the easy route and blame the weather. Timing however, tends to go late and should be checked regularly.
Much knocking that is believed to be due to carbon, fuel detonation and pre-ignition from overheated spark plugs is often a result of the engine laboring with a lean mixture. An excessively rich mixture will also cause overheating, but with high fuel prices encouraging most owners to try for maximum gas mileage, the chances are that the mixture is too lean. Any tendency toward constant detonation will encourage overheating. Anti-knock fuels usually checks this so if the problem persists, check your settings.
Do not forget the effect that driving habits have on overheating. Why, for example, labouring the engine in the wrong gear up a hill will generate excess heat. In such cases, stopping to "let the engine cool off" may not be the best remedy. By maintaining forward motion at lower speeds, greater quantities of air will blow over the engine cooling system, and with the higher rate of water circulation, will help the process of dissipating heat. in such cases the engine's temperature will show a marked drop in a few minutes.
There is no substitute for practical experience when it comes to trouble shooting mechanical problems. Take the time to read the manuals and talk to fellow owners.

The first extremely obvious question is - What is this darned metaphor? Another fancy name? Well... yes and no. It is fancy, but also effective. Charged with energy. Stuffed with genius. By definition, a metaphor is a figure of speech where two entirely dissimilar words or phrases are brought together to suggest a similarity. Confused? What are examples for?

Yes, it's Shakespeare and he is comparing the world to a stage. You generally don't see the world as a stage, you see it... as the world, the earth, the mother; but not a stage. That is why it's a metaphor. Because it has brought together two entirely unrelated things and made sense with it.

1. Extended or telescoping metaphor or conceit
When your metaphoric insight has developed, then you cannot restrain yourself to just one metaphor. Like -
All the world's a stage and men and women merely players.
This extension - "Men and women are merely players" has made this an extended metaphor. The author stretched "the world" and "a stage" by introducing parts of "the world" (men and women) and "a stage" (players). Of course, it has to make sense. You can't extend it by comparing men and women to an ipod. Sounds distasteful? Exactly.
2. Metonym
When you've grown tired of clichéd words and are searching desperately for a word closely related to it that has not been used to death, that word is a metonym. A new word to replace an old one. Of course, an example. The pen is mightier than the sword. This saying in itself has become clichéd, but originally the thought was otherwise. Here, the pen stands for the freedom of expression and the sword for the power of authority. Now, if you said, freedom is greater than power, nobody would have said Wow. That's why Pen and Sword instead of freedom and power.
3. Mixed metaphor
Some of us fail to create a good metaphor; such a twisted, out of tune metaphor is called a mixed metaphor.

Can waves puncture? They do in a nonsensical world, but most of us are still sane, but widely tolerable of nonsense and that is why such nonsense is given a modest name of mixed metaphor.
OK, for info's sake - there are two kinds of mixed metaphors: permissible mixed metaphors and impermissible mixed metaphors. Never use impermissible ones, so that leaves me to explain only permissible ones.
Permissible mixed metaphors make sense even though the parts are not directly related.
We've weathered plenty of storms with an iron will.
There is no connection between weathering the storms and an iron will, still it sounds right.
4. Absolute metaphor
A perfect metaphor to show craziness and confusion. In an Absolute metaphor, the metaphor actually, really, truthfully, doesn't make sense.

In today's world of indistinctness, it is reigning absolute. Confuse them with your confusion.
There are two types of Absolute metaphor: Paralogical and antimetaphor.
5. Implied metaphor
Implied metaphor is an indirect metaphor where an implication to the whole is made.

No bird and no mouth, just feathers and trap. Yeah, that's implied.
6. Dead metaphor
Dead metaphors have been so overused that they have lost their individuality.

Dead metaphors are mostly used as phrases and not as metaphors. Their association has died. Now, they are just phrases, although their names still remain. Take off your hats. It's mourning time!
7. Dormant metaphor
Didn't our teachers say that eating words in not good. Here it is again. When the meaning of a metaphor becomes unclear because the sentence has been shortened, then it is called a dormant metaphor.
He was blazing. (for whaat, if you please)
She flew towards her uncle. (why?)
They blew her off. (WHY?)
OK, it makes sense, but in itself, they don't create the whole picture. Why chew words. Dormant, yes, they are sleeping. Hibernating. But still alive.
8. Synecdoche metaphor
The name looks scary, but it's rather simple. In synecdoche metaphor, a part of the association is used instead of the object. For example feathers instead of bird or claws instead of crab. These associations are symbolic of the whole.

9. Root metaphor
Root metaphors are named thus because from them numerous other metaphors can take birth. Also, they are generalizations like -
Time is money.
Make hay while the sun shines.
Etc etc.
10. Active metaphor
Active metaphors are new born so you will have to introduce them to the world. They are not familiar to the reader. That's why it is better if they are explained clearly.
Her blinking love.
They mashed each other's lives.
Any new metaphor that hasn't been written before is an active metaphor.
11. Submerged metaphor
In a submerged metaphor, the first part of the metaphor or the vehicle is implied. For example: his winged dreams or her legged ambition.
12. Dying metaphor
It should have been named 'rising from the dead metaphor' or 'the mummy metaphor' because when you take out dead metaphors from the grave and use them in your writing, then they can't be called dying. I don't know what George Orwell was thinking when he coined the name. J Dying metaphors are clichéd metaphors like

13. Conceptual metaphor
This is hard, so read slowly. A conceptual metaphor has many metaphoric meanings in them. Their underlying meaning creates a novel thought or a universal concept. Life as journey is an old conceptual metaphor. This metaphor has universal appeal. It is not talking about a particular situation or a person. It stands true to every man.
Also, if you see life as a journey, then you can also use many other metaphors like

I have reached crossroads.
I came into this world with no luggage.
So, Life is a journey is a conceptual metaphor.
14. Pataphor
Pataphors are metaphors that are stretched to such an extreme that they do not make sense. They are usually used to attract attention and introduce newness.
He put breaks on his fear, accelerated his anger and rammed into the house.
15. Simple or Tight metaphor
In simple metaphor, you don't need to do much. Just cool it. There is nothing to cool except just it. On a serious note, in a simple metaphor, the relationship between the vehicle (cool) and the tenor (it) is very intimate (tight).

He is mad (crazy).
You're a dinosaur (huge).
Usually, simple metaphors are very short. Just two or three words at most.
16. Implicit metaphor
Here, either the vehicle or the tenor is not specified clearly, but implied.
Shut your trap.
Watch your tongue.
Here, 'trap' and 'tongue' are used instead of mouth and words.
17. Compound or Loose metaphor
A compound metaphor is made of more than one similarity. In it, the writer extends a metaphor by using more than one association.
He ran towards the murderer, a wild beast with a beating heart.
The air smelt of fear, the fear of abandonment.
18. Complex metaphor
In a complex metaphor, you have a simple metaphor and his accomplice (not in crime). Instead of an explanation, an example would do better.

There is no question whatsoever that the contemporary world has witnessed remarkable changes in intercultural interaction. From an African perspective, one of the best things that have come out of this revolution is happening among African American youths, who are increasingly becoming proud to be associated with Africa. I am almost sure that one particular boy that punched my nose for calling him African back then in 1982 (or thereabouts), would buy me a drink today for that same reason, because, unlike then, he is now probably proud to be African. He has probably joined the African American growing trend of adopting African names; he has probably given his own children some African names. Some grown African Americans have replaced their original first western names with African names, and others have actually replaced both their first and last names with African names. Dr. Molefi Kete Asante, founder of Afro-centric Philosophical Movement," is one prominent example.
Indeed, for the purpose of this treatise, it is noteworthy that a few Caucasian Americans bear African names, too. I am going somewhere with this line of statements, mind you; they are taking me to my thesis question-if other peoples of the world are actually taking up African names; how could African Catholic Ministers inside Africa insist that African names are not good enough for Christians? Mind you, I am not talking about European Catholic Ministers in Africa, no sir; I am talking about Africans inside Africa!
Iron Man
Once upon a day in the year 2004, a young marital couple had a child in a remote village in Africa, my village actually. The couple who are Catholic went to their Catholic Priest to baptize their new baby, and the Reverend Father flatly declined. Why? I will tell you; the couple's intended name for their baby was African, and the Reverend Father declared that he would not have anything to do with it. He rejected the baby's name simply because it was African, regardless what it says or means. The couple's chosen Igbo tribal name for the baby was "Chukwuka," which means God is Supreme. It did not matter to the Reverend that the name venerates and glorifies God in a God-given African language. He is African, but he is convinced that African names are un-Godly, no matter what they say. As far as the Minister was/ is concerned, a Christian has to bear a Latin or English name of a Saint. Sadly, to him, a child with a meaningless English name is better off than a child with an African name that venerates God or Christ.
Misconstrued Christianity At War With African Culture: The Battle Over African Names
If we all follow the Reverend's teaching, then very soon everybody in Nigeria would be named John, Mathew, Mary, and the names of the other few Saints. The resultant name-identity crisis would reflect the American comedy movie titled, "Ed, Edd, and Eddy." Everybody's name in the community would be the same or similar to the next guy. Who knows, maybe we would all start to behave alike, too. And if the intolerant, ignorant Christians get their way, we shall all behave like the white man, forsaking everything that makes us African, and for no good reason whatsoever.
Some anthropologists and theologians have approached this argument from Christian perspectives, and their progressive Christian argument is that "We may keep out some bad influences of culture, but others will remain inside, sanctified, and employed to serve in glorifying God." This in part means that a Christian's emphasis in naming should be to venerate and glorify Christ and God in one form or another, and in any language or culture. God understands all languages. He made and owns all the languages, for Chrissakes! And, He does not see one language or culture to be more legitimate than the other; God does not create illegitimate things. Further, a key principle of intercultural interaction requires an African to adapt the foreign Christianity, or any other religion for that matter, to suit the culture and environment of Africa. The object should be harmonious coexistence of the two cultures, and not the destruction of one by the other.
Surely, there are African names that may not be good for a Christian. Naturally, any discerning Christian would not bear names that venerate smaller African gods. Incidentally, I have a born-again Christian friend that changed his surname in 2006 from Ogundipe to Oluwaseyi. Ogundipe is Yoruba name that venerates Ogun, the Yoruba god of iron, and Oluwaseyi means "God Has Done This." When my friend saw "the light," he discarded the un-Christian idolatry name and adopted another vernacular name that venerates the Almighty God. My friend, Jide Oluwaseyi, is a pastor, but he did not betray his culture like our dear Catholic Reverend would want him to. The 'wrong' in his old name was done by his ancestors who picked the name in the years long gone. He decided to right the wrong, and he replaced the bad name with a better African name of Christian value. He did not adopt a Caucasian name just because one African name was bad. No, sir! If one African name is bad or un-Christian, then a Christian should replace it with another African name that venerates Christ or God. We are not supposed to forsake our culture, period!
There is one thing, perhaps the first thing actually, which anybody should know about African names-they are always sentences, and phrases. Maybe, to be safe, I should say that I am yet to come across any African name that is not a phrase or a full sentence. Some names venerate human and other beings; others describe events, phenomena or situations. In essence, Africans most often choose names that are relevant to the happenings of the time when the baby is born. Most often the name is just one single word, but when translated into English, that single word is most likely to be a sentence, or at least a meaningful phrase shortened from a sentence.
Let's illustrate with a vernacular name of the Igbo tribe of Nigeria: "Nnadozie." It is a phrase of two words-Nna & Dozie, and it literally translates to Father repairs (amends). The father here is the Almighty Father (God). Hence the name is GodRepairs, or God amends. Now, the phrase is only part of a sentence, but anybody from the Igbo tribe understands the meaning even without the second part of the sentence. Expatiated, it says that when anything wrong happens, it is God that amends or repairs the situations. The name is actually a little ambiguous in application, because it could be said as a general statement that: God does the repairing of broken situations, or it could be said as a prayer to God asking Him to repair or amend a particular broken situation. I have a friend named Nnadozie. The story behind his naming is that there was a situation in his family when he was born, and his name was actually a prayer asking God to repair the bad situation using the new innocent baby as a point of contact.

Do you find yourself saying "I miss her," and can't get her off your mind? If you're ever going to get her back you need to find ways to get on with life and move forward. A break up can hit a man as hard as anything he will face and yet there is life after your ex. You can and you must find your way to the other side of the depression and pain. In order to do this you must take firm action to move forward and avoid damaging your relationship skills. Imagine you free of stress and living the life you've always dreamed of and with a loving partner who adores you.
First things first, you must work on bringing closure to the split. Just what is closure? It is when you accept a situation and start to move on facing a new beginning. After taking this step you will still feel the pain flare up at times and thinking, "I miss her," however it will get better and happen less and less. Continue on by admitting that the relationship is seriously over. Lying around thinking there's a chance you can get back with her will keep you from moving on. Healing begins by putting an end to it and making a clean break. We are all creatures of habit. All relationships become a habit. Any habit can be broken and replaced with a new habit. Out with the old and in with the new. Practice saying, "Next", and imagine the great new adventures you will enjoy.

The next thing to do is physically shut the relationship down. You do that by giving and taking back all of the personal possessions you've exchanged. Gather all her stuff, the tooth brush, hair brush and curling iron she kept under your sink, put them in a box and return her stuff. You could even include half eaten boxes of her favorite crackers or snacks she once enjoyed with you. This really helps you to exercise this ghost from every corner of your mind. When you return these items ask her for the sweat shirt and ball cap she has of yours.
I Miss Her - How to Move ON!
Now the healing begins, you have your possessions back and now get your space. You may hope to be friends with your ex in the future, however staying away for now will allow healing. Don't call, text, or email her and keep busy ignoring the urge. If she tries to call, text, or email you, screen her out, don't respond. Avoid the places you know she is likely to frequent. Don't put yourself in any situation that will allow her to get under your skin. Plus you could see her with another guy while out and about and you are just not ready for that yet. Seeing this so soon will just bring back feelings of "I miss her" all over.
Changing some of your social habits is a great plan and helpful to the healing as well. Go to a new church, a new favorite hangout or bar as well. You can also shop at a new grocery store to avoid your ex. Try some new foods, especially those she wouldn't like and change things up a bit. Once you go to new places you'll inevitably meet some interesting new people, some of which will be female. The new women you meet will give you a fresh prospective on things and be good dating prospects. Although you may feel that you never want to date again, just simply hanging out and keeping new company will speed up the healing process.
People Need People.
• Seek out new and available women. • Take a work out, cooking or dance class. • Join a co-ed sport or coach a co-ed team. • Take up new activities or a new hobby. • All of which will help you to interact with new women and regain your comfort and confidence.
If you find yourself interested in a woman, ask her out. Don't worry that you don't want a long term relationship. A date is a fun social experience and requires no commitment, get back in practice and have fun. Before you know it, you won't be saying "I miss her" anymore and will be enjoying your new found freedom.

When King David was old and well advanced in years... Adonijah... put himself forward and said, "I will be king." I Kings 1.
David was a great King who had ruled Israel with an iron hand for 40 years. But, time had caught up with him. Things the old king use to do, he could not do anymore. And so, the hell hounds came out of the cracks and crevices.
Iron Man
This is an interesting story about David because he had grown old and in his old age he had lost his usefulness as interpreted by others. King David had lost his sexual desire; he had lost his virility, lost his stature, lost his position as being "manly." So his son, Adonijah said, "I'll be king." Daddy isn't what he use to be; he's old, he's senile, he's done with, I'll take over and I'll rule."
Our King Complex
Well, when we contemplate our society and nation today, all indications seem to suggest that our usefulness is predicated entirely on our ability to perform. What a sad commentary. It seems as though we have a sort of built in self-destruct mechanism because we in America have made a god out of youth. We have men and women struggling to avoid growing old. Cosmetic surgery has escalated to an almost insane number. We resort to all kinds of strategies: liposuction, implants, diet aids, make-up, anti-aging creams, hair clubs and anything else that promises to keep us young. We want to maintain our youthfulness and vitality.
As a consequence, we have old women running around with young men and old men with young women. Many of us are frantically lost, caught up in the whirlwind of trying to stay young. This is the kind of society we live in. We have made so much ado about age that we have become more and more fearful of the aging process.
Well, when we get there, and if we live we will, the day will come when we will find ourselves in David's shoes. If we hang around, don't go anywhere, stay on the scene of life, we will grow old. We will not be able to perform the way we use to. So the question is, will we too be rejected, cast aside, ignored like most of our seniors today? The day is coming when we will be sitting where David and millions of others have sat. What will be our plight when we too come to the last miles of the way?
Father Time had caught up with David and his son was anxious to get him on out of the way. Isn't it sad how some people will take advantage of the elderly? When you can no longer speak for yourself, think as fast, see as clearly or hear as keenly as you use to, folks will take advantage of your weaknesses.
But before judging too harshly, we must understand that all of us suffer with a king complex. There is a gravitational force from the winds of the world to push the old aside and to become king ourselves. When we see others stumbling, and fumbling and forgetful, the king complex kicks in and we want to push them aside; get somebody who can do it better. We forget, or suppress or deny, that where they are is where we are heading. What we do to them today, others will do to us tomorrow.
Be patient with our seniors. They may not be able to walk, talk see, or hear like they use to, but give them a chance.
